The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially announced multiple venue changes for the upcoming India home season, including high-profile Test matches, ODIs, and A-team fixtures. In a significant update, the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata will now host the first Test between India and South Africa instead of the originally scheduled India vs West Indies match.
Major Venue Swaps Announced
According to the latest BCCI release:
- The 2nd Test vs West Indies, initially planned for Kolkata, will now take place at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi, from October 10-14.
- The 1st Test vs South Africa, originally set for Delhi, has been moved to Eden Gardens, Kolkata, and will be played from November 14-18.
Additionally, due to ongoing pitch and outfield revamps at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, the upcoming India Women vs Australia Women ODI series has been shifted:
- The first two ODIs will be held at the new PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh.
- The final ODI will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi.
India A and South Africa A Matches Shifted
The India A vs South Africa A multi-day and one-day series have also undergone changes:
- Three one-dayers, initially scheduled for M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, will now be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot.
- The multi-day matches remain at BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE), Bengaluru.
