Shahid Kapoor, known for his versatile performances, is gearing up for his first release of the year—Deva, an action crime thriller directed by acclaimed Malayalam filmmaker Rosshan Andrrews. The movie also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, and Kubbra Sait in pivotal roles, marking Kapoor’s first collaboration with Pooja Hegde and Andrrews’ Bollywood directorial debut.

Interestingly, Deva is reportedly the Hindi remake of the 2013 Malayalam film Mumbai Police, which was also directed by Rosshan Andrrews. The movie has created a significant buzz, with its songs and trailer generating immense excitement among fans.

Box Office Day 1 Prediction

Film business expert Rohit Jaiswal, in an exclusive interview with Filmibeat, predicted that Deva is likely to have a decent start at the box office with collections expected between Rs 6-8 crores on its opening day. He added that the film’s box office performance may improve depending on word of mouth.

Will Deva Surpass Kabir Singh’s Opening?

Since the release of the Deva trailer, comparisons with Shahid’s 2019 blockbuster Kabir Singh have been inevitable. However, early predictions suggest that Deva may not surpass Kabir Singh’s opening day collection of Rs 20.21 crores.

Shahid Kapoor on His Transformation for Deva

Talking about his rugged transformation for the role, Shahid Kapoor told Zoom, “I didn’t want the character to look metrosexual or chiseled. He needed to be tough and raw, like a bulldog—broad-shouldered, stout, and intimidating. The vibe should be: don’t mess with this guy.”

With fans eagerly awaiting the release, all eyes are now on how Deva will fare at the box office.
