In a shocking development, former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Bengaluru’s HSR Layout on Sunday. The 68-year-old retired IPS officer was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with visible injuries on his body, according to police officials.
The disturbing scene was reported to the police control room by an unidentified caller, even though his wife, Pallavi, and daughter were reportedly present in the house at the time of the incident. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and have sent the body for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause.
Police sources have told news agency PTI that they suspect possible involvement of a family member, though no arrests or official statements have been made regarding any suspects.
Om Prakash was a highly respected Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 1981 batch. During his long and distinguished career, he held several key positions, including Director General of Fire and Emergency Services and Director General of Home Guards, before being appointed Karnataka’s DGP in March 2015.
