Mumbai: In a shocking development for Bollywood fans, veteran actor Paresh Rawal has officially exited the much-anticipated film Hera Pheri 3. Amid the ongoing controversy, the actor returned the ₹11 lakh signing amount, along with 15% interest, citing concerns over the payment structure and production timeline.
Paresh Rawal Returns More Than He Took
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Paresh Rawal refunded the signing amount—₹11 lakhs plus interest—and even paid slightly more than the original sum. The actor decided to step back from the project as the principal shoot was postponed to next year, and the release is expected only by late 2026 or 2027, delaying his full payment for nearly two years.
“The term sheet mentioned that Rawal would receive the remaining ₹14.89 crore only a month after the film’s release. This long wait didn’t sit well with the actor,” said a source close to the development.
Akshay Kumar Legal Action
Rawal’s departure hasn’t gone down well with the film’s producers. Actor Akshay Kumar, who is also producing Hera Pheri 3, has reportedly initiated legal proceedings against Rawal.
Pooja Tidke, legal counsel representing Akshay’s production house, told PTI:
“There will be severe legal consequences. It has hurt the franchise. We’ve sent a legal notice informing him about the implications. Expenses have already been incurred on cast, crew, logistics, and the trailer shoot.”
The Legacy of Baburao and Future of the Franchise
Paresh Rawal’s portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri (2000) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006) made him an iconic character in Indian cinema. With his exit, fans are heartbroken, and the future of Hera Pheri 3 is now uncertain.
