Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna presented the UP Budget 2025-26 in the state assembly on Thursday, aiming to strengthen the economy and push towards the goal of making Uttar Pradesh a $1 trillion economy. This marks the ninth budget presented under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath leadership.
The budget focuses on 10 key sectors: agriculture, infrastructure, industry, IT and electronics, health, education, tourism, urban development, financial services, energy, and capital investment.
UP Budget 2025-26: Total Allocation and Sector-Wise Focus
- Total Budget Size: ₹8,08,736 crore (9.8% increase from the previous year).
- 22% of the budget is allocated for developmental projects.
- 13% for education, 11% for agriculture, and 6% for healthcare.
Major Announcements in UP Budget 2025-26
- Two free LPG cylinders will be provided under the Ujjwala Scheme.
- Ayodhya to become a Solar City with a plan to train 3,000 Surya Mitras and generate 22,000 MW solar power in five years.
- ₹1,050 crore under Farmer Welfare Fund for financial assistance to farmers in case of accidental death or disability.
- Construction of four new expressways to enhance connectivity.
- ₹5 crore allocated for developing an Artificial Intelligence City in Lucknow.
- Rani Laxmibai Scooty Yojana: ₹400 crore allocated for scooter distribution to eligible girls pursuing higher education.
- 2.12 lakh farmers to benefit from new tube wells and repair of defunct wells.
- ₹4,500 crore allocated to improve rural water supply under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

- Under MNREGA, the government has set a target to create 34 crore man-days in 2025-26, allocating ₹5,372 crore for the scheme.
- ₹900 crore allocated for pre-10th and post-10th scholarships for general category students.
