In Mathura’s Vrindavan, Premanand Maharaj, renowned for his spiritual wisdom, simple living, and teachings of truth, devotion, and righteousness, experienced an extraordinary event. World-famous magician OP Sharma Jr., son of the late magician OP Sharma, demonstrated his awe-inspiring tricks, leaving the revered saint amazed and delighted.
During their interaction, OP Sharma Jr., a Kanpur-based magician, explained, “We are artists, and magic, in our view, is a scientific art. What we show is based on science and technology.” Following this, he began his captivating performance, astonishing everyone, including Premanand Maharaj.
The Magical Performance
The magician started by tossing his empty hands into the air, only to produce sacred ash (vibhuti) from his clenched fists. This act left Premanand Maharaj laughing heartily, much like a child.
Next, Sharma Jr. placed small pieces of paper in a round container, set them on fire, and covered it with a lid. When the lid was removed, an orange cloth emerged, and a larger yellow cloth was waved in the air, turning into a long stick. An amazed Premanand Maharaj exclaimed, “Is it real?” before covering his mouth in astonishment.
Transforming Rice to Water
Drawing inspiration from a saint in Ayodhya, the magician took a bowl of rice, covered it with another empty bowl, and doubled the rice quantity upon opening it. However, when he repeated the act, the rice turned into water, leaving no trace of the grains.
Unveiling the Indian Tricolor
In another act, Sharma Jr. placed saffron, white, and green pieces of cloth in an empty bag. With a quick shake, the Indian tricolor flag emerged, much to everyone’s amazement. Premanand Maharaj appreciated the gesture, noting, “Today is Republic Day, and here is the Indian flag.”
Premanand Maharaj’s Profound Lesson
After witnessing the magical display, Premanand Maharaj shared a spiritual insight:
“God is the greatest magician. He has placed eyes, ears, and noses perfectly, giving everyone a unique identity. Amongst the infinite creations, there is only One. God is the ultimate magician, turning the infinite into one and the one into infinite. The creation of animals, birds, and their sustenance, along with individual minds and fingerprints, is a testament to this divine magic. We are all His children. While some of this magic may seem unreal, it all exists because of the One Supreme Truth. This illusion is transformed into reality by the greatest magician, who expands everything from Himself.”
