Mahindra Launches BE 6 and XEV 9e Electric SUVs with Larger 79 kWh Battery for Extended Range

Mahindra has officially launched updated variants of its BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs, now offering a larger 79 kWh battery pack in the Pack Two trims. These models were previously available only with a 59 kWh battery option. The new BE 6 Pack Two with the 79 kWh battery is priced at ₹23.50 lakh, while the XEV 9e Pack Two is available at ₹26.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The 59 kWh variants remain unchanged, priced at ₹21.90 lakh for the BE 6 and ₹26.50 lakh for the XEV 9e.

Extended Range for Long Drives

The inclusion of the larger 79 kWh battery significantly boosts the driving range. According to Mahindra, the BE 6 now offers a claimed MIDC (Modified Indian Driving Cycle) range of 683 km, while the XEV 9e delivers 656 km. The previous 59 kWh battery variants provided 557 km (BE 6) and 542 km (XEV 9e) under MIDC testing. In real-world urban driving conditions, users can expect approximately 500 km from the 79 kWh battery and around 400 km from the 59 kWh variant.

Efficient Charging Options

Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e support versatile charging options, including a 16A portable charger, 7.2 kW and 11 kW wall box chargers, and high-speed DC fast charging. The fastest charging comes via a 140 kW DC charger, which can juice up the battery from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes — a notable benefit for daily commuters and long-distance travelers.

Powertrain and Performance

The SUVs come with two powertrain options depending on the battery pack. The 59 kWh models are paired with a 170 kW electric motor, while the 79 kWh versions benefit from a more powerful 210 kW motor, delivering enhanced acceleration and driving performance. Mahindra also includes features like regenerative braking, multiple driving modes, and even virtual engine sounds to mimic traditional driving experiences.

Premium Features and Safety

Mahindra has not compromised on safety or technology in the BE 6 and XEV 9e. Both electric SUVs are equipped with:

  • Six airbags
  • All-wheel disc brakes
  • Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems)
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Front and rear parking sensors

These features aim to provide not just performance but also peace of mind to modern EV buyers.

With the addition of the 79 kWh battery pack and a competitive price point, Mahindra continues its push in the Indian EV space, catering to drivers who seek longer range, faster charging, and smarter mobility in a sustainable package.
