Looking to get an Aadhaar card for your child under five? The Baal Aadhaar Card is a special version of Aadhaar that’s designed for young children. It’s simple to apply and ensures your child has an identity proof for important uses like linking with passports and availing government schemes. Let’s walk through the simple steps, documents required, and updates needed as your child grows.
What Is Baal Aadhaar Card?
Baal Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identity number issued by UIDAI specially for children below 5 years. Unlike adult Aadhaar cards, it contains basic details like the child’s name, date of birth, gender, photo, and is linked with one parent’s Aadhaar number. Biometric data (fingerprints and iris scan) is not collected until the child turns five.
Why Should You Apply for Baal Aadhaar?
- Many documents, such as passports, now need to be linked with Aadhaar, making it important for even small children to have one.
- It acts as identity proof for school admissions and access to government services.
