The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a legal notice to South African cricketer Corbin Bosch after he pulled out of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to join the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The move has sparked controversy, as Bosch was under contract with Peshawar Zalmi for PSL 2024 but chose to play in IPL as a replacement for the injured Lizaad Williams.
PCB Takes Legal Action Against Bosch
- Bosch was picked by Peshawar Zalmi in the Diamond category during the PSL Players Draft on January 13, 2024.
- Mumbai Indians later signed him as a replacement for Lizaad Williams, who was ruled out due to injury.
- The PCB has sent Bosch a legal notice through his agent, demanding an explanation for breaching his contract.
- The board has also outlined the possible consequences of his withdrawal from PSL.

Why the IPL is Preferred Over PSL?
Several foreign players, including Bosch, have chosen IPL over PSL due to:
✔ Higher salaries offered by IPL franchises.
✔ Greater exposure and competition in the world’s most-watched T20 league.
✔ More stability and security in IPL contracts.
Why Did PSL and IPL Clash This Year?
For the first time since PSL’s inception in 2016, its schedule overlapped with IPL. The PCB had to shift the PSL window from February-March to April-May due to:
- The Champions Trophy 2025 being hosted in Pakistan.
- Other international commitments involving the Pakistan cricket team.
As a result, many foreign players who were unsold in the IPL auction later signed contracts with PSL franchises.
What’s Next for Corbin Bosch?
Bosch now has to respond to PCB’s notice within the given timeframe. The board could impose penalties or bans, affecting his future participation in PSL. Meanwhile, he is expected to continue playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024.
