The Afghanistan leg-spinner surpassed West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo during the first qualifier of SA20 between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals. Rashid, who captains MI Cape Town, led his team to victory by 39 runs, securing a spot in the tournament final.
In this historic match, Rashid needed just one wicket to break Bravo record. He achieved the feat by dismissing Dunith Wellalage in the 10th over of the innings. Rashid finished with impressive figures of 2/33 in his four overs, taking his overall tally to 633 wickets.
The accomplished bowler expressed his joy after the record-breaking achievement, stating that he looks forward to reaching even greater milestones across all cricket formats.
