Thousands Report UPI Transaction Issues Nationwide

Several UPI users across India are facing technical glitches, with transactions failing on popular payment apps like Google Pay, Paytm, and PhonePe. Customers are reporting incomplete payments, delays, and deductions without confirmation from the recipient’s end.

Over 3,000 Complaints Flood Downdetector

According to data from Downdetector, over 3,000 users have reported issues with UPI payments since 6 PM. The widespread disruption has caused frustration among users who rely on digital payments for everyday transactions.

Users Express Frustration on Social Media

Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) are flooded with complaints from users facing transaction failures. Many have tagged their respective banks and UPI platforms, demanding an urgent resolution.

  • Common Issues Reported:
    • Payments failing despite multiple attempts.
    • Money deducted from accounts but not credited to recipients.
    • Errors while initiating payments.

🚨 User Testimonial:
“I tried making a payment at a grocery store using UPI, but it kept failing. Even switching between Google Pay and Paytm didn’t help,” wrote Rajesh Sharma on X.

Possible Reasons for the UPI Downtime

While official sources are yet to confirm the cause of the disruption, potential reasons could include:

  • Heavy transaction traffic overloading UPI servers.
  • Technical issues with NPCI’s (National Payments Corporation of India) payment infrastructure.
  • Bank-specific outages affecting UPI services.

What to Do If Your UPI Payment Fails?

🔹 Check your bank balance to confirm if the amount was deducted.
🔹 Wait for a few minutes—most failed transactions get auto-reversed.
🔹 Try switching payment apps like Google Pay, Paytm, or PhonePe.
🔹 Use an alternative payment method, such as debit/credit cards or net banking.
🔹 Contact your bank’s customer support if your money is stuck.

Official Response & Resolution Timeline

As of now, no official statement has been issued by NPCI or major UPI service providers. However, given the scale of the issue, a fix is expected soon.
