The much-awaited OTT release of Kuberaa, starring Dhanush, Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh, has been confirmed. After making a successful theatrical run, the crime drama is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 18, just 28 days after its theatrical debut on June 20.
Prime Video Confirms Kuberaa OTT Launch
Taking to social media, Prime Video released a striking poster featuring the film’s lead actors with a cryptic caption:
“A simple man, and the not-so-simple journey of his redemption arc. #KuberaaOnPrime, July 18.”
The announcement has excited fans who are eagerly awaiting the chance to watch the film from the comfort of their homes. Kuberaa reportedly collected ₹133 crore worldwide, marking a strong performance at the box office.
Producer’s Dispute With Prime Video
In a recent interview with Gulte, producer Sunil Narang of Amigos Creations revealed that there was pressure from Prime Video regarding the OTT release timeline.
“Yes, Telugu films come on OTT platforms in 28 days, sometimes we drag it to 30 days. They have overtaken everything, and it all goes according to their will,” he said.
“I requested them to give me a few weeks’ time and a July date because there might be a delay in post-production. They said they’ll cut ₹10 crore if I don’t release on 20 June as planned.”
What Is Kuberaa About?
Directed by Sekhar Kammula, Kuberaa is a gritty crime drama centered around Deva Kallam, a beggar played by Dhanush, who finds himself caught in a dangerous web of conspiracy and power.
- Nagarjuna portrays Deepak Tej, a former CBI officer pulled into the world of crime once again.
- Rashmika Mandanna plays Sameera, a woman stranded in Mumbai after being abandoned by her boyfriend.
- Jim Sarbh plays Neeraj Mitra, a corrupt corporate tycoon who manipulates both Deepak and Deva to serve his greedy interests.
The film, released in Telugu and Tamil, received praise for its gripping storytelling, intense performances, and socio-political undertones.
Kuberaa‘s early OTT debut on July 18 makes it one of the fastest theatrical-to-digital turnarounds for a major South Indian release this year. With a powerful cast, compelling narrative, and wide accessibility through Prime Video, the film is expected to reach an even broader audience globally.
